Program Information Northern Chill volleyball club 12U to 18U teams

Introduction On behalf of the executive of the Northern Chill Volleyball Club (NCVC), we would like to to officially thank you for choosing the Chill family, Northern Ontario's best elite volleyball club. In our thirteenth year of existence, we are continually striving in establishing the best possible elite volleyball experience available to young female athletes. The team that your child is currently auditioning for represents the best athletes of that particular age group in the Sudbury Region. The magnitude of this accomplishment should not be ignored, considering the number of athletes that participate in the sport of volleyball in the Sudbury area and Northern Ontario. At this point, we would like to share some important information with you that should be carefully considered prior to committing fully to the NCVC.

Competition Conflicts
There are bound to be competition conflicts between various schedules. The Chill policy on this matter is that in the event of a conflict between a Chill event, and another activity, the decision is left to the athlete and her parents. We will not encourage, nor discourage an athlete from choosing Chill over another activity. With this, as a club, we have two requests: Firstly, in the event that the athlete may make the decision to attend another activity over a Chill competition, is that they provide their respective coaches with a minimum 2 weeks notice, in order for the coaches to structure their practice sessions accordingly leading up to the competition. Secondly, and most importantly, it is imperative that it is communicated to the organizers of your other activities the reasons for you not attending those events. In addition, this should be done in a timely manner
11
Playing Time The NCVC is a competitive club. The goal of each of the coaching staffs will be to develop each athlete in all aspects of volleyball both in practice and competitive setting. This goal, however, must be balanced with the objective of realizing success in competitive environments such as tournaments. Each member of the team will receive some allotment of court time over the course of the season, but equal distribution of playing time should not be expected. The exception is at divisions where the Fair Play Rule is in effect for competitions. (As per Volleyball Canada and Ontario Volleyball Guidelines)
12
Parent Expectations Parents play a vital role in the success of our organization. Their roles include, but are not limited to: Volunteering Ensuring Nutritional needs of athletes are met in accordance with club guidelines Punctuality and attendance In order to achieve one’s individual potential, attendance at all training sessions are critical. In addition, being on time for those sessions are of equal importance. Coach and athlete support Payment of fees in a timely manner Conformity to Parent Code of Conduct

Respect in Sport Respect in Sport is an accessible, online resource in the prevention of bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination (BAHD). The program’s mission is to empower participants to recognize signs of BAHD and eliminate it from our sport, through a global culture of respect. Respect in Sport provides guardians with information on how to evaluate and understand: Parental influence over a child Coach and leader roles in sport Role of the parent and coach in ensuring a child’s enjoyment of a sport Protecting your child when outside of your immediate control Losing perspective Injury management Misplaced enthusiasm The effects of guilt on your child Treatment of opposing players, coaches, officials Concussion awareness and Return to Play guidelines Long-Term Player Development model Respect In Sport certification is achieved through a 60-minute online program that can be completed anywhere with internet access. The cost of the program is $12 (see below for a special OVA promotion)
14
Respect in Sport As an incentive for supporting the program, the OVA will pay $6 per certified parent/guardian to the affiliated OVA club to support club activities if completed by November 1, 2017.* *must be new OVA certificate, not transferred certificate from another sport. As an added incentive, and in appreciation for each parent/guardian helping to make the OVA one of the top Provincial Sport Organizations in Canada, we will be running a Respect In Sport contest.
