Lifecycle Management (LCM)
Overview End-to-end application ownership experience for IT Implement to deliver business functions and flows Manage and maintain to ensure business service levels Upgrade to meet evolving business needs Implement Manage Upgrade Benefits Low total cost of ownership Reduced risk in IT operations Increased IT agility to respond to changing business needs In Oracle Open World 2006 is when we had first introduced the concept of Lifecycle Management. A theme that’s quite popular with Peoplesoft Application system Management. For starters, Lifecycle Management can be defined as the means of managing the Oracle E-Business Suite through its lifecycle at the customer’s premise/enterprise. Using LCM, your IT Staff is provided with an End-to-End application ownership experience. LCM consist of three stages: First being the Implement phase. During the initial days of ownership of the Oracle E-Business suite, you (customer) would spend most of your time planning, analyzing the E-Business suite namely for its business functions / flows and there after IMPLEMENTING the same into a production system. Second is your Manage phase. After you’re live on your production system you manage and maintain systems to ensure your business service levels are being maintained and troubleshoot issues that affect the same The third stage being the Upgrade stage. While managing your systems you might encounter major issues or your evolving business needs require that you incorporate newer functionalities to stay ahead of competition. Understanding the necessary patches that your system would require, the impact of the same on your system and finally going ahead with the patch application is part of the Upgrade stage. The upgrade stage paves the way to the implement phase were newer releases are adopted and rolled out across your production systems. The benefits of utilizing LCM are: First and foremost you’re able to bring in predictability in the cost of owning Oracle E-Business suite which in turn provides means to lower the same Second, by automating key system management tasks reduces the risks involved Last but not the least, by providing the end-to-end ownership experience prepares you to plan for your changing and evolving business needs Next lets go through the various tools that facilitate LCM. © 2007 Oracle Corporation – Proprietary and Confidential
