Requirements of the President
MUST be a natural-born citizen.
Must be a resident of the U.S for 14 years.
Must be a minimum age of 35 years old.
Terms of Office
The President’s term is 4 years.
The President can serve for 2 elected terms. (22nd Amendment)
The President can serve a maximum of 10 years.

9. The Cabinet- Advisors to the President
The Cabinet has 15 different departments.
Each department has its own duties and responsibilities.
Example: Department of Homeland Security.

10. Executive Order
The President has the authority to establish a rule or order called the Executive Order.
Since 1789, over 13,000 have been established.
It stems from Article II (2) of the Constitution that says the “grant of the executive power which combined with the “Commander and Chief title allows for this. This method will bypass Congress, and the Supreme Court as upheld all but 2 Executive Orders.

11. Examples of Executive Orders
Lincoln- Emancipation Proclamation
Franklin D. Roosevelt- Executive Order  Relocation to internment camps of the Japanese Americans that were living in the United States
John F. Kennedy- 1960’s barred discrimination in federal housing, hiring, and contracting.

12. Examples of Executive Orders
Obama-  executive orders that will protect up to 5 million undocumented persons temporarily without fear of deportation.
Trump- Temporary ban of immigrants from specific Muslim-dominated nations.
