Disability Issues Eastern Cheshire Self Assessment Framework
Uptake for cervical cancer screening programmes across Cheshire East is - 50% of eligible population." We have been working with local commissioners from NHS England to make all of these screening programmes more accessible to people with LD and this work is ongoing. Action: Continue to contribute to the Cheshire, Warrington and Wirral work to improve access to and uptake of cancer screening programmes.

Disability Issues QOF Patient may be exception reported if they have been invited 3 times in the financial year. QOF Change made: Add two new in development indicators for one- and five-year survival from cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2.

Equality Act 2010(EA) Expectations from National Screening Service
For all protected / relevant groups, commissioning teams and provider service Teams need to furnish evidence of equitable and fair access, outcome and experience, as per service. Death by Indifference The lack of reasonable adjustments to facilitate healthcare of people with learning disabilities, particularly attendance at clinic appointments and investigations, was a contributory factor in a number of deaths.

Disability Issues Top Tips:
Ensure you know the “protected group patients” in the screening cohort. Document what “reasonable adjustments you have made to ensure attendance at screening appointment either at your surgery or at specialist provision. Use available resources: Specialist Clinics, Best Interest Documentation, DOLs contact.
