What is TEMI? Universal screener Progress monitoring
Intervention curriculum Skill games for on-level students Basic introduction of components. TEMI is: A full primary universal screener and progress monitoring system An intervention program for students identified at risk A supplemental skills-based program A program to keep your primary students on track to be successful in 3-5 and beyond Helpful to principals in guiding data-based math instruction in K-2 TEMI is not: A replacement for any core instruction A magic bullet

Video Introduction Jot down questions you have right now Watch video
Cross off questions that are answered by the video Use a easel board to record remaining questions
7
TEMI-PM details Focuses on skills that are fundamental to broad-based mathematical proficiency Fundamental number, operations, and quantitative reasoning skills for primary
8
TEMI-PM Kindergarten Number Identification (0-20) Quantity Recognition
Squares appear in an organized grid 4 answer choices Students circle the number that shows how many in all Quantity Recognition 1 to 6 dots in a cluster 6 answer choices Magnitude Comparison Circle the bigger number or both if they are equal Number sequences 0-20 Circle (or fill in) the missing number
9
TEMI-PM First Grade Magnitude Comparison Number sequences Place Value
Circle the smaller number or both if they are equal Number sequences 0-99 Circle (or fill in) the missing number Place Value Models of 10s and 1s 4 answer choices Circle the number that shows how many in all Addition/Subtraction combinations Basic facts Students write the answer
10
TEMI-PM Second Grade Magnitude Comparison Number sequences Place Value
Circle the smaller number or both if they are equal Number sequences 0-999 Write the missing number Place Value Models of 100s, 10s and 1s Write the number that shows how many in all Addition/Subtraction combinations Basic facts Students write the answer

The Moving with Math Learning System
Assessment Linking Standards to Tests, Curriculum, Reviews, and Home In the Moving with Math Learning System, your state standards are linked to all components of the program – Pre-and Post-Tests, hands-on lessons, Daily Reviews, reteaching Skill Builders, and home connections. This wheel is a visual model for how the program is organized. This wheel provides a visual model of how all Moving with Math programs are organized. We see here how Moving with Math’s systematic approach helps teachers target instruction and provides accountability to districts, parents, and students. A market research study found that our best customers gave the linking of the curriculum to all objectives a remarkable 100% approval rating. In the next part of the workshop, I’m going to take you through this wheel so that you see how all pieces of the program fit together. You can follow along in your Extensions Sampler. A system of assessment and instruction where everything is tied to standards… with proven results!

Who Are We Trying to Reach?
Students who are struggling with basic math concepts or have learning gaps and who lack the understanding of essential math concepts necessary for future success. Who are we trying to reach? Ask the group to describe the problems students have with math. Keep a list of responses and come back to the list throughout the workshop and at the conclusion. Emphasize that a lack of conceptual understanding underlies many of the problems students have with math. What are these students’ needs? Review key concepts students need to understand to be successful in math. These are key concepts for students to understand math and eventually be successful in algebra. Point out how many are taught in primary years.

Covers grades 1-8 by level and then by topic.
Math by Topic Overview of Materials Boxed Classroom Kits In Advance Make sure teachers know what to expect when they get to their classrooms. Talk to the coordinator ahead of time to find out how they will get their materials. If the Pre-and Post-Tests will be analyzed, be certain to cover when and how they will be returned. Agree with the coordinator on who will be responsible for collecting the Class Record Sheets. Packaging Tell them how their materials will be packaged. Typically, the classroom set will include: 1 teacher manual and 20 student books. Location As you talk about each item, be sure to show exactly where it can be found in the books. For example, show the yellow tab for assessment when you talk about that section. Frequently used with Tiers 2 and 3 as an RTI curriculum or a classroom resource. Covers grades 1-8 by level and then by topic.

What is Math by Topic Level A: Grades 1-2 AI: Numeration
AII: Addition and Subtraction AIII: Fractions, Geometry, and Measurement Level B: Grades 2-3 BI: Numeration, Addition, and Subtraction BII: Multiplication and Division BIII: Fractions, Decimals, and Percent Level C: Grades 5-6 CI: Numeration and Whole Numbers CII: Fractions, Decimals, and Percents CIII: Geometry and Measurement Level D: Grades 7-8 DI: Numeration and Whole Numbers DII: Fractions and Decimals DIII: Problem Solving with Percent DIV: Geometry and Measurement DV: Pre-Algebra Listed grade levels are a guideline. Teachers must assess student understanding in order to place a student in the proper level.
