1 TH-F6A Programming Entering Frequencies with the Keypad
By Norm Goodkin, K6YXH TH-F6A Programming

2 TH-F6A Keyboard TH-F6A Programming

3 A-band (FM on 2m, 1.25m, 70cm) B-band (All Modes, All Frequencies)
(Dual Band Display) (Single Band Display) [A/B] to switch between A-band and B-band [F], [DUAL] toggles between single and dual display TH-F6A Programming

4 VFO vs. MR [MR] = Memory [VFO] = Variable Frequency Oscillator
Recall a Memory Frequency or Name is Displayed Memory Number is Displayed [VFO] = Variable Frequency Oscillator Key in a frequency Memory Number is NOT displayed TH-F6A Programming

5 Simplex vs. Repeater Simplex: Rx and Tx on the same frequency
Example: Rx on MHz, Tx on MHz No Tone Repeater: Rx on one Frequency Example: MHz Tx on an Offset Frequency Example: MHz (+ 0.60MHz offset) Tone (most repeaters require an access Tone) No Tone (blank), T, CT, or DCS (DCS is not widely used) Tone Frequency (example: 94.7Hz) TH-F6A Programming

6 Repeater Concepts Rx Tx K6DCS 147.225 + 94.8Hz 147.825Mhz 147.225MHz
(only if tone = 94.8Hz) Rx Tx K6DCS 94.8Hz Mhz MHz Castro Peak Standard Offset = 0.60MHz PTT Tx = MHz T=94.8Hz Rx = MHz TH-F6A Programming

7 STEP Frequencies may be selected in increments of the “STEP”
Default for 70cm (440MHz) is 25kHz Some repeaters are not aligned to 25kHz increments, for example, MHz To set STEP to 5.0kHz: [F], [STEP] Select 5kHz with top knob Don’t forget [MNU], OK TH-F6A Programming

8 How to Key-in a Frequency
Select Band-A, select [VFO] mode, then press [ENT]. You will see _ _ _ _ _ _ displayed. Key in the 6-digit frequency (examples: , , ). The decimal point will automatically be entered. TH-F6A Programming

9 Activating the Tone Functions
Press [TONE] to switch the Tone function on ( T is displayed) Press [TONE] again to select CT for CTCSS (Encode/Decode) or DCS, or turn the Tone functions off. TH-F6A Programming

10 Multi-function Key [MNU] (“Do it” or select Menu) – Press down
ESC [MNU] (“Do it” or select Menu) – Press down [OK] (“Do it”) – Important after making a selection! [ESC] = Escape (Don’t do it) – to the left TH-F6A Programming

11 Selecting a Tone Frequency
While the Tone function is ON, press [F], [TONE] Turn the Tuning control to select the desired tone frequency Press [OK] or [MNU] to complete the selection TH-F6A Programming
