“THE HOLY SPIRIT’S RELATIONSHIP IN ADVANCING THE GOSPEL”
Acts 1:6-8
2
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
3
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
4
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem
5
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
6
The Holy Spirit advances the gospel…
7
THROUGH POWER.
8
THROUGH POWER. Acts 1:8
9
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem
10
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
11
THROUGH BOLDNESS.
12
THROUGH BOLDNESS. Acts 4:7-8, 10-13, 29, 31
13
7 And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired, “By what power or by what name did you do this?”
14
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders,
15
10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you
16
crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. 11 This Jesus is the
17
stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation
18
in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we much be saved.”
19
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men,
20
they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
21
29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,
22
31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled
23
with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
24
BY OPPORTUNITY.
25
BY OPPORTUNITY. Acts 8:26-29
26
26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem
27
to Gaza. ” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went
to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official
28
of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship
29
28 and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
30
29 And the Spirit said to Phillip, “Go over and join this chariot.”
31
BY BRINGING STRATEGY TO US.
32
BY BRINGING STRATEGY TO US.
Acts 13:2
33
2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul
34
for the work to which I have called them.”
35
BY BRINGING STRATEGY TO US.
Acts 13:2 Acts 16:6-10
36
6 And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak
37
the word in Asia. 7 And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus
38
did not allow them. 8 So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas
did not allow them. 8 So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night:
39
a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”
40
10 And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had
41
called us to preach the gospel to them.
