Mission Statement The mission of the Pender Public School District is to provide quality educational opportunities in a safe, positive learning environment that motivates and challenges all students to become productive and responsible citizens.

Summer School Kayla Brewer, Kira Swinton, Tab Albus, Mandy Baker, Kim Hofmeister and Richelle Webster will be helping us with summer school. Autism Program/Resource Program 13 students are eligible/participating for ESY special education services. Several students will likely be in need of credit recovery. Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00p.m. June 12-15, 19-22, 26-29 July 10-13, 17-20, 24-27

Jump Start School July 31–August 3 and August 7-10
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 33 students recommended by elementary teachers Invitations to Jump Start will go out early July Transportation will be provided as needed Purpose is to “jump start” their learning and prepare them for the beginning of the school year. Staffing will be determined by number of students who plan to attend

Elementary School Day Breakfast begins 7:30 a.m./Playground supervised at 7:45 a.m. Students not eating should arrive at 8:00 a.m. All students enter through Door 4 Students dismissed to classrooms from playground at 8:10 a.m. Students will be tardy if arriving after 8:15 a.m. Dismissal Warning Announcement at 3:25 p.m. Students will line up/dismiss from classrooms at 3:30 p.m. All students exit to the playground. Students walking home will be escorted across the alley and will walk west to the corner where they will be allowed to disseminate. Students riding the bus will be dismissed through the preschool door where they will be supervised until the busses arrive. Students being picked up by parents or guardians will be lined up on playground near the “pick-up zone”. Bus students loaded, checked off, dismissed at 3:45 p.m.

Eclipse Monday, August 21st, 2017 (11:30-2:30)
Pender will experience a 90% total approximately 1:00. PTO has purchased tickets for our 4th-8th to attend the Lincoln Saltdogs “Eclipse” game. (Lincoln is in the path of totality = Total Eclipse) UNL Science & Technology Staff will present information before game in a “science fair” sort of fashion. Game will be halted, UNL staff will present a play-by-play of the eclipse. Additional “Watch Party” will occur PPS for students, staff, and community. Details will be forthcoming.
