1 The story about Coeus and Pheobe

2 Background Coeus- is the God of wisdom and he is a elder titian. Coeus and his sister/wife Phoebe were the children of Uranus god of the sky, and Gaia, the goddess of the earth.

3 Coeus was the god of intellect
Coeus was the god of intellect. Phoebe was the goddess of prophecy and oracular intellect.

4 Coeus and Phoebe had two daughters, Leto who had Apollo and Artemis, and Asteria a goddess who had Hecate her only daughter.

5 Like most of the titans, Coeus and Phoebe did not play an active part in Greek religion. They appeared only in lists of Titans, but were primarily important for their descendants like Apollo.

6 With Phoebe's prophetic wisdom and her husband, Coeus’s intelligence, the couple may have functioned together as the fundamental structure of all knowledge in the cosmos.

7 The titans lost against the Olympians in the Titan War
The titans lost against the Olympians in the Titan War. After the Titan war Coeus, along with his brothers were imprisoned in Tartarus.

8 Later Coeus tried to escape from Tartarus, but he was sent back by the three headed dog Cerberus.
