•The only person who should be playing on your child’s account, is your child. •Once your child starts a lesson, they need to complete it. Otherwise DreamBox can’t tailor the next lesson to meet their needs. •Tips •Remind your child that it’s okay to make mistakes! •When they’re stuck, have them click the help/hint button. •Plan at least 15 minutes for each section.

G/T CEU Curriculum Extension Units
-Interdisciplinary advanced-level content, reading, writing, & thinking skills -2 CEUs per grade per year lasting approximately 9-12 weeks each -Each unit requires two hours of instruction per week with the G/T Resource Teacher -Multiple criteria used for the selection process Third Grade CEUs: Engineering/Weather Immigration G/T Instructional Seminars -Designed to develop advanced-level skills in an area of interest for students -Offerings vary based on the needs of the students and grade-level teams -Each unit will meet with the G/T Resource Teacher 1-2 times per week during recess. Fall Administration: October Winter Administration: end of January through February Administered in the Fall and Winter for Reading and Math Measures student growth over time Provides preliminary benchmark of College and Career Readiness Assesses instructional strengths and needs Supports differentiated instruction in the classroom Parents receive progress reports after each administration

CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) - Grades 3 and 5
Measures verbal, quantitative, and learned reasoning abilities Used for GT placement decisions Administered in December

PARCC Assessments PARCC Benefits:
Indicates how closely students are on track to graduate college and career ready Gives teachers regular results to guide learning and instruction The PARCC assessments are on a 5 point scale: 1-Did not yet meet expectations, 2-Partially met expectations, 3-Approached expectations, 4-Met Expectations, and 5-Exceeded expectations Students hand-carry PARCC results home in the first few weeks of the following school year.

Field Trip Chaperone Selection Process
If a parent/guardian would like to be considered as a chaperone, they must check the chaperone box on their child’s permission form, provide contact information, and return the form to their child’s teacher. Permission forms may be turned in before payment. Chaperones will be contacted by the homeroom teacher if they are selected for the trip.

Field Trip Chaperone Selection Process - Continued -
After the first field trip, chaperone requests from parents/guardians who have not attended a previous field trip this school year will take first priority. Parents/guardians that are not selected to chaperone will be placed on a waiting list and used if needed. Parents/guardians who submit a request will be notified via phone or if they were selected or not selected to chaperone on a field trip.
