1. Tondoro Island Crocodile Farm

2. Crocodile and fish farm for sale as a going concern located in the Sinazeze area on the on the banks of Lake Kariba near the border with Zimbabwe. It is part of the Zambezi valley. The crocodile and fish farm is housed on two land properties stretching in excess of five hectares and additionally the company owns an island on Lake Kariba (Tondoro Island) measuring about 24 hectares with a lot of potential for tourism. Approximately 2,600 m2 of land on the island has been approved for aquaculture.

7. There are some 16,000 stock including 193 female breeders and 12 male breeders and there are currently 9508 growers. The normal life span of an average crocodile is 100 years and the current company’s stock of crocodiles is between 20 to 50 years of age. The crocodiles are harvested for selling from the age of 3 onward. The market for crocodile skins is 100% export oriented, the major and ready contractual customer is based in Singapore. There is also ready market for the crocodile meat.

8. There are 27 large concrete ponds, 70 small concrete ponds, 2 large concrete ponds holding 200 mature breeding crocodiles. One large concrete pond holding 4,000 grower crocodiles. The water in the ponds is fresh water boiler from 4 boreholes. There is an abattoir/processing room for culling crocodiles.

12. There are five houses for senior managers, one middle management house and ten labor houses. Five blast freezers and five holding freezers. The property is enhanced with a borehole, security fencing, concrete drains, concrete paving, lawns, swimming pool etc. The land has 200 KVA power supply. Frozen Kapenta is transported to the customers using three refrigerated Mercedes Benz trucks. There are two flat bed trucks for transporting dry kapenta and also used to bring in materials and other purchases to the company. The farm is the second largest supplier of frozen fresh Kapenta fish in Zambia.

17. Tilapia operation has about 12 cages made with about 12 nets being in place on Tondoro Island. First crop projected to be about 70 tons in January. Tondoro island has title (one of the few) on 99 year lease. There are currently three wild pigs and guinea fowl on the island. There is a plan to stock zebra, bush buck, warthogs and impala according to suggested stocking rate. Tondoro is right next to Chete island which is largest and best (natural stocked) flora and fauna on Lake Kariba.
