4’s October
October is a busy, busy month for us. We are continuing to learn our alphabet using our Sound Box book, Word Wall, Jolly Phonics and Big Event. We are learning how to count by 1s, 5s & 10s and discuss that it takes a lot longer to count by 1s then by 10s! Patterning has become an every day happening as we put ourselves in a boy/girl pattern and discuss the shapes and colors on our calendar. We will learn about apples and pumpkins are we prepare for our field trip. Discussion is taking place on the changing season as we watch the leaves turn color and the weather get colder. We continue to gently remind our friends to raise their hands and wait to be called on and speak kindly and politely.

Our Field Trip was a huge success with the students. The ladies at the Children’s Garden helped us learn about the different vegetables that we can grow. We read a book called Tops & Bottoms to enrich our knowledge of what grows under the earth and above! Some things grow in the middle too! As always, I am only a phone call away and I can be reached any time via at Please make sure to label your child’s backpack and any outerwear. An extra set of clothes is also recommended. We suggest having your child wear close toed shoes to school to avoid injury while at play. 1
