3 Ownership NOUN The state or fact of being an owner You can own more than things There is more to being an “owner” than just owning material things (car, house, clothes, phone, etc). For instance…. In the classroom, when a student takes responsibility for not completing their work and does not try to blame others or outside forces, they are being the owner of their actions. Own it! According to Urban Dictionary... Taking pride in what you got Take responsibility to what you've done. Be accountable for your actions. For “according to you”, have students share what the term “own it” means to them, particularly in the classroom. According to you….. (or how can you “own it” in the classroom?) 8 Being reliable, dependable, and accountable
Responsibility You may need to define reliable (able to be trusted), dependable (responsible), and accountable (culpable; responsible to/for) to students. Being reliable, dependable, and accountable

9 When you take ownership, you are taking responsibility for….
Your choices Choosing not to do your work to the best of your ability (or at all) is not something that anyone but you can control. You need to own the grade you receive because of it. Your actions If you do something that you know you should not (like cheating), you need to be willing to admit your wrongdoing and deal with the consequences.
