Background Psychologist Albert Bandura was born in northern Alberta, Canada on December 4, 1925 He is a social psychologist who’s studies focused mostly on social learning. This is based on role model behavior and imitating others. His findings also influenced behavioral psychology and personality psychology. Such as what factors influence behavior and each individuals uniqueness. In 1952 Bandura received a Ph.D from University of Iowa In 1963 he published Social Learning and personality Development 14 years later, in 1977 he developed his well known Social Cognitive Theory. Also known as the Social learning theory.

Views and experiments Bandera believes that peoples behaviors are influenced by others around them. He focused on motivational factors as well as environmental factors. He was famous for his Bobo Doll experiment. In this experiment Bandura allowed a group of children to watch an adult be aggressive and violent towards the blow up doll. The kids who watched this behavior thought it was acceptable and acted the same way towards the doll when given the chance. Those who did not see this were less aggressive. This helped to prove that children observing a certain behavior are influenced by it and act the same way. This backs up Bandura’s theories of how people learn by observing others around them.

Conclusion Bandura is still alive today and has a wife and two children. In more recent years he changed his focus to self-efficacy. Which is the belief that people can reach goals or satisfy needs on their own. I agree with his theories and his methods used to come to his conclusions, such as the Bobo doll experiment. Just like Bandura I believe people’s behaviors are influenced by their environment and what they see. Especially if what they are observing is not followed by any consequences.
