2. History
Introduced in 1891 by Dr. James Naismith at the YMCA College in Springfield,Massachusetts.
A peach basket was used as the first hoop.
The first game was not played until 1892.
1899 women formulated their own rules.

3. Rules/Terms Teams consist of five players on the court
The game is started with a jump ball between any two opposing players at center court.
After a shot, or if the ball goes out of bounds it is the other team’s ball
Scoring: two points is awarded for each basket and one for a free throw. Three points are awarded for goals made from outside the three-point line

Personal Fouls:
Charging, blocking, pushing, holding, tripping
Terms/Violations:
Double Dribble: dribbling, stopping, dribbling again
Traveling: Walking without dribbling
If offense is in the paint for 3 seconds
If you don’t pass the ball in within 5 seconds.

5. Regulations/Skills Regulation basketball rim is 10 feet off the floor.
