3. What is Self-Assessment?
Self-Assessment (SA) is a systematic process of evaluating the various aspects of an academic program to ensure quality and meet the desired standard. For the purpose of improvement, SA collects information and evidences from the stakeholders (i.e. students, alumni, faculty, employer, etc.), reviews those, and identifies the weaknesses to enhance quality of teaching, learning, and education. (Paraphrased from the Self-Assessment Manual provided by the UGC)
The process of Self-Assessment can be described as a simple four-step process:
Identifying the Strengths of the Department
Pinpointing the Weaknesses within the Department
Proposing an Improvement Plan through a comprehensive Improvement Plan Report
Implementation of the Improvement Plan
