3 Poverty The Poverty or Riches of a country have a direct consequence on the effects of an Earthquake. Communications are a big disadvantage for poor countries. Internet Telephones Communication with other countries.

4 Poverty can cause less effective rescue operations
People in poor counties probably cant offord proper health care.

5 Inertia In poor parts of the world, where earthquakes occur regularly and without warning People have lived there for generations and cannot move because of different reasons Jobs Economic Family Etc. They do not have the same education and preparations Sometimes an earthquake occurs during the night People need to rebuild their houses all the time Less effective emergency rescue

6 Infrequency Earthquakes happen fairly infrequently making it unpredictable People risk moving into these areas hoping an earthquake does not occur People become carless and believe they are safe and don't take precautions. (e.g.. San Francisco) When an earthquake does occur the affects can be made worse due to the fact that a settlement is near a fault line.

7 Overpopulation countries that are overpopulated and are located in a hazardous area Some of these countries are very poor and the people here are forced to live in this dangerous area Overpopulated areas are in danger during a natural disaster because of shortages of resources: -water -food -clothes -shelter

8 Building Design The most common fatalities and injuries come from falling debris. Poor countries may not have the possibility to build earthquake proof this endangers peoples lives and means that buildings have to be rebuilt. Big cities are at danger because of their skyscrapers and tall buildings. Big buildings like skyscrapers indanger neibouring buildings and the lives of many. It is impossible to build a 100% earthquake proof building.

Preparation is an important tool in dangerous situations because it helps know how to act in such an event. Countries that have poor education will be ill prepared for earthquakes. Just basic education could save the liveds of many. Your level of preparation can directly affect your chance of survival There are many easy steps to educate people for such an event
