3 Definition of Data Disaggregation
To understand the importance of disaggregating data, it is important to understand it’s definition. Data disaggregation is the process of breaking down information collected from individual or single/multiple sources into smaller subgroups.

4 Importance of Data Disaggretion
Disaggregating data is another critical step to gaining increased knowledge from aggregated information. Disaggregating data involves exploring more deeply into data to highlight issues that pertain to individual subsets and/or outcomes of aggregated data.

5 Cont’s Disaggregation can be important because subgroups may differ substantially, in ways that are hidden by the aggregate figures. In some cases, it will turn out that the aggregate figures are not reflective enough of the realities Disaggregating data helps to expose hidden trends

6 Cont’s can help establish the scope of the problem and can make vulnerable groups more visible to policy makers To improve effectiveness, precision and sustainability in policy implementation Better information lead to better policy decisions

7 Overview of data disaggregation by GBoS
The Gambia Bureau of Statistics is the lead agency in the National Statistical System (NSS) charged with responsibility of conducting Population and Housing Censuses, conduct ad hoc demographic and socio - economic surveys and production of official statistics.
