Hydraulic analogy of electricity
Unit 2.Lesson 1
2
The hydraulic analogy Purpose
To use a water circuit where drops transport energy as a explanation of how an electrical circuit transports energy by moving electrons. Cast of characters A drop of water as the electron The water pressure (pressió de l’aigua o altura) as the voltage or potential difference. The water flow (cabal d’aigua) as the intensity of the electricity current The pipe obstruction (resistència de les canonades) as the resistance of electricity components in the circuit
3
Difference of potential
Voltage equivalence Small Big Waterfall Water pressure (pressió) High Low Voltage or Difference of potential Torch and batteries
