2 Read the Story of Jesus Calming the Storm
Mark 4:35-41 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.

3 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion

13 So now, let’s get some idea about what the Disciples experienced.
Let’s take a look at different kinds of storms. See if you think they should or shouldn’t have been so AFRAID.

Are independent, self sustaining storm systems.  Have winds ranging from 74 to about 200 mph Are rarely over a mile wide Usually form over land Usually last minutes, rarely a few hours Cause damage via wind and debris Are dependent on a large storm to develop and keep going  have winds ranging from 65 to about 300mph Often have a condensation funnel.

Discuss these things: 1. Would it have been scary for the Disciples 2. What did Jesus ask of them in the storm 3. What words of Jesus should have helped them believe 4. What could they have done differently What about you? What can we learn from this story?
