SILVER NITRATE (AgNO3)- reacts with salt from sweat; used in photography Sunlight/UV light needed to develop A “fixative” is used to set the print Silver Nitrate Video

CYANOACRYLATE (superglue)- reacts with amino acids

LATENT FINGERPRINT PRELAB
IODINE- reacts with fatty acids Iodine fumes stain print Starch solution is used to set

NINHYDRIN- reacts with amino acids; turns pink/purple Can be further developed with zinc chloride solution (we don’t have) Ninhydrin Video

DUSTING- most common latent fingerprint technique; adheres to print residues; various colors of powders (we will use black) Dusting Technique

Order of CHEMICAL fingerprint developing Iodine ninhydrin/super glue silver nitrate (chemicals wash away residues) Regrowing a Finger (Including the print!)
