Materials that you need:
8 oreos A butter knife A paper plate A marker A piece of paper

Cookie 1: The Full Moon This cookie is the easiest! Simply flip the cookie over so that all of the filling is showing. When there is a full moon, it is very bright in the sky!
4
Cookie 2: Waning Gibbous
Use the butter knife to cut off a small slice of the filling to make it look like the picture above.
5
Cookie 3: The Third Quarter
Use the butter knife to cut off half of the filling. Make sure that the right half is cut off and the left half is left on the cookie!
6
Cookie 4: The Waning Crescent
Cutting this phase of the moon can be tricky! Make sure you take your time to make it correct. Use the picture below to help you.
7
Cookie 5: The New Moon This is another easy phase to make! All you need to do is flip the cookie over so that none of the filling is showing.
8
Cookie 6: Waxing Crescent
This phase of the moon is opposite of the waning crescent. Use the butter knife and cut all but a small sliver of the filling off of the cookie like the picture to the right.
9
Cookie 7: First Quarter This cookie is opposite of the third quarter. Use the butter knife and cut half of the filling off of the cookie. Make sure that the left side of the cookie is the one that is removed. The cookie should look like this:
10
Cookie 8: The Waxing Gibbous
This cookie is opposite of the waning gibbous. Use the butter knife to cut off a small sliver of the filling from the left side. This cookie should look like the picture above.

Last Step! Use a piece of paper and put the cookies in a circular order. Then use a marker to label each of the different phases of the moon! Don’t forget to grab a glass of milk to enjoy your moon cookies when you are done!
