You will not be allowed to use notes on the final, but you will have access to the novel.
A form will be provided with space for each task.

4. Performance Task #1 – Plot Diagram (30 pts)
Correctly place 10 events on an original plot diagram.
Place events in the correct order.
Make sure you show me which events are exposition, rising action (or complication), climax, and falling action (resolution).
Study Tip: Points are awarded for creativity and effort; you might want to bring colored pencils or other art supplies.
Review the definitions of the terms above.

5. Performance Task #2 – “Bedtime Story” (30 pts)
Create a chart that compares and contrasts the first telling of the bedtime story (chapter 1) and the second telling (chapter 3).
Study Tip: Re-read those sections of the novel and note similarities (comparison) and differences (contrast).
Think about the style of chart that would be most appropriate for this task.

6. Performance Task #3 – “Settings” (30 pts)
Create a chart comparing and contrasting the descriptions of the pond (chapter 1), the bunkhouse (chapter 2), and Crooks’ room (chapter 4).
Study Tip: Re-read those sections of the novel and note similarities (comparison) and differences (contrast).
Think about the style of chart that would be most appropriate for this task.

7. Performance Task #4 – the “Essay” (35 pts)
Write the THESIS PARAGRAPH ONLY for the essay that you would write for the given prompt.
Study Tip: Review structure of thesis paragraph. The form is available on the class website.

8. Performance Task #5 – Discussion Summary (30 pts)
Summarize and expand on any discussion on any topic that you remember from our work with the novel.
Study Tip: Work in small groups (2 or 3 people) and reflect on the topics that we spent time discussing in class.
Talk about what questions were asked and what answers were given.
Discuss the information presented from outside the book like historical context and personal experience.
What questions might you ask if we were having it now?
How could more information (like from research) help you understand the discussion better?
