1 Concurrent College Credit in High School
Enrollment Information for students thinking about concurrent enrollment courses with JCCC College Now and/or Baker University.

2 Types of JCCC College Credit
Concurrent Enrollment (JCCC-College Now & Baker): When a high school student takes an approved BVHS class from an approved high school teacher and receives both high school and college credit. Quick Step: When a high school student takes a college class on a college campus. Quick Step’s enrollment is through the student’s classroom teacher (Advanced Algebra.) There is no longer a limit on the number of concurrent enrollment college hours.

3 *Benefits of College Now
Quality Instruction – All CN instructors are qualified high school teachers that have similar experience of JCCC faculty on campus. Low Cost – Significantly lower than area public and private colleges and universities. Schedule Flexibility – Students complete general education courses while still in high school. JCCC Campus Access – Students have access to all resources that are offered to other college students. This includes the Math Resource Center, Writing Center, library and computer labs.

4 How do these classes transfer?
JCCC classes have excellent transferability to colleges or universities in the state of Kansas and Midwest region. You can check the website for transferability or contact the school directly. Even though the classes will transfer to most colleges and universities, how it transfers to each individual school may be different. It would also be wise to research potential majors to see what class requirements you may need. This will help you better determine which classes you should take now while in high school.

5 Guidelines for selecting College Now credits
Sometimes “more” is just “more” Identify classes to transfer outside of your intended major Ex: Engineering major- social studies & English are good transfers Business Major- math, science, English, etc… You may not need 9 credits of social studies for college Math is sequential. Take your highest level for CN credit ex: AP Calc AB for college now credit is sufficient for pre-calc & college algebra There is value in taking a difficult class in high school and then repeating it in college. (Think AP Bio/AP Phys I for pre-med. Great start to your college GPA) Bottom Line: There are no right or wrong ways to do this. These guidelines should help you make the best decision with the information you have at hand
