1 Targets and Tactics Attacks were meant to destabilize governments and spread fear to bring about a communist revolution. Able to carry out attacks from Asia to northern Europe. (Japan, Singapore, The Netherlands, Israel) Carried out attacks for the PFLP to help fund their own operations. Lod Airport Massacre

Attacks mostly focused on large scale attacks on government or civilian buildings. Heavily focused on airports and embassies. 3 Japanese Airlines Flight 531
Hijacking March 31, 1970, Tokyo International Airport, Boeing 727 Their first attack is regarded as one of the worst hijacking incidents Japan has ever experienced. No causalities, all 129 passengers released in Seoul, South Korea, Hijackers then flew to North Korea where they received asylum. Japanese Airlines Flight 531

4 Assaults on government and civilian institutions
May 30, 1972, The Lod Airport Massacre in Israel 3 attackers used automatic weapons and grenades 26 dead, 79 wounded. 2 of the attackers killed and 1 attacker injured. This attack was organized by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and carried out by the JRA to help fund future operations. Aftermath of the Lod Massacre

5 Hostage Situations August 4, 1975, United States Embassy in Malaysia. 5 members of the JRA Attacked the building. 53 people held hostage, 4 injured. JRA demanded the release of their leaders that had been arrested and fly them to Libya as their demands. Malaysian Commandos at the embassy on the second day of the hostage situation JRA leaders being moved to their plane to Libya
