MIS Standards 2015 OCTOBER Implementation 2016 APRIL 1st
The Standards for Management Information Systems in Canadian Health Service Organizations (MIS Standards) is a set of national standards used across the health care system to collect and report financial and statistical data from health service organizations’ daily operations. MIS Standards reflects management information principles and a conceptual framework that together provide an integrated approach to collecting, integrating and reporting financial, statistical and clinical data. Workload Measurement System What is a WMS? A workload measurement system (WMS) is a tool for measuring activity volume provided by a specific functional centre in terms of a standardized unit of time. When used with other financial and statistical data (such as hours, staff and service activity), measuring the functional centre’s workload gives managers a good indication of the amount and kinds of services provided in terms of productivity, utilization and financial indicators. For those of you that are new to the MIS Standards Here is a little extract blurb from cihi.ca as to what the MIS Standards are And what a WMS is. Again …………released mid to late OCTOBER 2015 IMPLEMENTATION is APRIL 1, 2016.

Why does MASTER CODE = HAPPY TRAILS at the Okay Corral?
Master Code – MIS Standards of Canada is the driver Master Code Activity – One Activity is the Master and all additional linked Codes, SETUP, are family! Master Code Unit Value – One Unit Value is representative sum total of the Master Code Unit Value and all linked additional Code Unit Values Master Code Reports – Reports are generated using Row Sorting Category STD Standard Code Master Code Reports – Reports reflect Master Code & all of the linked Codes with one sum total UV (Unit Value) reflective of the Master Code and all additional Codes. MASTER CODE

MIS Example Master Code Use CHEMISTRY
UNIT VALUES FOR AGGREGATED ACTIVITIES AST EXAMPLE Users may develop a combined workload unit value for the AST as follows: 21000 – Instrument programming – random access analyzer 0.5 22090 – Instrument loading/unloading 23000 – Manual review of results 23150 – Manual transfer of results 12210 – Racking of specimens ___________________________________________________________ Combined workload unit for each AST: 1.1

SoftWorkload Custom Reports Practice > Create > Save > Test
Determine SoftWorkload Reports wanted/needed … Practice running reports before creating and saving Customs How? Combine various Reports Sorting Categories with various Reports Filter Values. Practice running reports. Get a feel for it! Where do I practice run Reports? Option 3-REPORTS Where do I create Custom Reports? Option 4-SETUP Where do I test Custom Reports? Option 3-REPORTS Why are my Custom Reports valuable? Customs can be used over and over without having to redefine, can be manually commanded and Print Scheduler automated. Customs Save Time! => Saving Time * Saves Money! Always recommended that Client users practice running reports before building and saving “Custom” Reports. This is good practice and gives the system User a hands on feel for how to run reports, how to negotiate the various Sorting Categories. Learning how to apply Filter Values in conjunction with the various Sorting Categories, COLUMN & ROWS, is valuable practice and learning. Once System user is comfortable with playing in the Reports area, practicing reports runs, then it is time to begin creating and saving Custom Reports.
