2 Mission Overview The BalloonSat Zephyr shall ascend to an altitude of approximately 31,000 meters while stabilizing camera images with a gyro and performing measurements on ambient sky brightness to better understand the wavelength ranges high altitude observatories could utilize. Project Zephyr shall provide data on the most efficient operational wavelength range for high altitude telescope platforms by showing which wavelengths of light between ultraviolet and infrared best penetrate the atmosphere as altitude increases. The primary mission of Team Zephyr is to determine the most efficient altitude and wavelength of light that a high altitude telescope platform should be positioned in to image the sky.
