Bike Check – entering Athlete’s Lounge
Refer to 5.2 in competition rules Handle bars with clips-on Wheels and spare wheels Bike frame Approved exceptions on ITU website: - Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the TD at the end of the athletes’ briefing - Mechanic service available

Check-in procedures Athletes Lounge Teams must check in together.
Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Decal check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip distribution (1 for the ankle) Swim cap distribution

Helmet check - Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition The athlete who misses to comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 Running Shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike The bike must be racked in the first transition by the rear wheel and in the second transition in any direction Spare wheels to be deposited by the coaches to Wheel Stop area voucher to be presented

Pre-Start Procedure 10 Minutes before start Introduction protocol.
Athlete Introduction 10 Minutes before start Introduction protocol. Meet at Dismount line in Transition. As introduced jog to the swim start area. When arriving at Pontoon first athlete selects position remaining athletes go to holding area. Select your position, remain there Blocking two positions – immediate DSQ

Start Procedure Athletes in position The start can be given any time after the TD announces ”On your mark” Air horn blast The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

False Start Procedure False start Several horn blasts
Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot Valid Start but with Early Starters: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1. (During the time penalty, athlete cannot touch any of their equipment!)

Flat and technical 180 degres turns 2 Wheel Stations 1 Team wheel station. Coaches need to bring the wheels (Wheel Stop 1) to ... 1 Neutral wheel station (Wheel Stop 2) on ... For locations see the map Littering zone same as aid stations (see location on the map) Lapped athletes are out of the race.

All wheels will be returned to Sponsor after the event. ITU collects all wheels post-race and returns them to the wheel stop area and/or Elite Athlete Lounge. The wheels that need to be provided are: -2x 700c 10 cassette Campagnolo speed wheels -4x 700c front wheel -2x 700c 11 cassette Shimano rear wheels -2x 700c 10 cassette Shimano rear wheels We always said that there would be 1 PB at u-turn?? Run Penalty Box The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike, TA2 and littering e..x.: Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, discharge or store your equipment outside your designated area, rack the bike outside your own space etc (Transition will be videotaped for infringements) Location: before last turn into the narrow road leading back into the Transition/exchange zone. Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 10 seconds time penalty served on any lap of the run If you don’t stop it will result in DSQ

Exchange Zone Prior to the relay exchange, the athletes will wait in the relay check-in zone until the moment when the Technical official tells them to enter the relay zone. Athletes need to be present at the check in area. It is Athletes’ responsibility to be there, collect timing chip, swim cap and be ready The relay exchange from one team member to another will take place inside the “Relay Zone” The relay exchange is completed by the incoming athlete, using their hand to contact the body of the out-going athlete within the relay zone If the contact occurs outside the relay zone, both athletes must return to the relay zone and complete the exchange properly If the exchange is not completed inside the relay zone intentionally, the team will be disqualified. Unintentional infringement – 10 sec penalty.

Post race procedure Photo-finish
No congestion in finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area. Top three teams athlete are expected to meet finishers at finish area. For Top 3: - TV/Flash Interviews - Medal Ceremony - Media “Mixed Zone” Dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) coaches assistance needed: Ambush marketing rules apply Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium with maximum 1 sponsor logo with maximum height 4cm & total area 20cm² Pick up your bike after your race

Ambush Marketing Ambush marketing is defined as:
“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.” The consequence for this behavior is: The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any Please follow the ambush marketing rules

Post-race procedure Doping Control Team Medical Access
Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Team Medical Access Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation, but for team doctors only! Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate (Dr. Humberto Aguilar)

IMPORTANT NOTES Littering zones 40m before / 160m after
If you do bike training sessions, please wear your helmet and beware of the cars on the road Anyone wishing to use a Go Pro must register this interest with the Race Referee immediately after the briefing, and agree to abide by the conditions applied . This includes the familiarization and Race. Penalties can be served by any athlete. Team member or order change can be done with the Referee in the Athletes Lounge between 7:00am – 7:15am
