2 Brief Description of Project
This programme was adapted from the pilot HSCP leadership programme and motivated by lack of senior staff grade promotion opportunities. 6 month Programme for 10 staff grades from Feb-August 2015 of 4 half day modules and final day presentations. The modules were designed around the core HSE competency areas. Leadership and Managing Change Leadership and Managing Self Leadership and Managing the Service- Leadership and Managing Strategy- Individual presentations on their leadership journey Participants had to do a group change project, present a seminar, complete the EQI- emotional intelligence questionnaire and keep a reflective log.

4 Project Outcomes 2 significant Change Projects were completed using HSE change model 1. Enhancing the profile of physiotherapy among staff of St James’s Hospital utilising the intranet page-by programme end all 70 staff profiles were on the SJH intranet page and to date has received 3,000 hits. 2. A project to send SJH Community Physiotherapy Referrals Electronically was achieved. 5 of the 10 staff achieved promotional grades since the programme. More motivated engaged staff

5 Main Learning from Project
Involve stakeholders in designing a programme Can be easily replicated Resources are all around Words of a participant Before I started this course I thought a leader was someone who wielder power. I thought leadership was about a commitment to perfection. I now know that leadership is about empowering others. I now know that leadership is about a commitment to excellence.
