1. WARM UP TURN IN your examine, today! First: Read Jamie’s abstract
Second: Write 3 pieces of information that you obtained from Jamie’s scientific abstract (on your desk).

2. HOTSPOT PRESENTATIONS
Create a PowerPoint presentation about your assigned island chain that contains:
1 slide for each topic on the notes sheet.
15 slides total.
Each slide MUST contain the following information:
Slide title.
At least 3 main points.
A graphic (picture).

3. The Location of Hawaii Example Slide
Hawaii is located in the Pacific Ocean.
It is approximately 2,300 miles southwest of the mainland United States.
The active volcano in Hawaii is named Kilauea.

4. HOTSPOT PRESENTATIONS
Your presentation should be about 10 minutes long and will be presented on Thursday or Friday this week.
You have 3 days in class to work.
You will have to do some work outside of class.
Your presentations will be graded by Dr. Anthony Koppers from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography and Dr. Rachel Millstone from UC San Diego.

5. HOTSPOT PRESENTATIONS
You may choose your own groups of 4-5 people, but no less than 4 people.
Choose people to get the most work accomplished with.
You will be given a folder containing information on your assigned island chain.
Begin obtaining information from the scientific papers, your notes and the textbook.
Write ALL information down on the notes sheet.
