1 Expressions and Equations Notes Part 13

2 Systems of Linear Inequalities
Just like when graphing systems of linear equations, you can graph systems of linear inequalities. First, graph both inequalities on the coordinate plane, shading where appropriate. Look at the graph. The section of the graph that has BOTH colors contains all of the points that are solutions to the system. NOTE: When graphing systems of inequalities, we had no solutions, one solutions, or infinitely many solutions. When graphing inequalities, we can still have no solutions, but we can also have 1 or more solutions.

5 Members of the swim team want to wash their hair
Members of the swim team want to wash their hair. The bathroom has less than 5600 liters of water and at most 2.5 liters of shampoo. 70L+60S < 5600 represents the number of long-haired members L and short-haired members S who can wash their hair with less than 5600 liters of water. .02L+0.01S ≤ 2.5 represents the number of long-haired members and short-haired members who can wash their hair with at most 2.5 liters of shampoo. Does the bathroom have enough water and shampoo for 8 long-haired members and 7 short-haired members? (Hint: Just substitute values into both equations).
