1 Enrico Gamberini for the GTK WG TDAQ WG Meeting June 01, 2016
GTK DAQ Status Enrico Gamberini for the GTK WG TDAQ WG Meeting June 01, 2016

2 Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016
Road map (from 10/02/2016) Identified 6 item to prepare next run: 1. Carrier reset via optical fiber from GTK-TTC. 2. Individual GTK-RO reset. 3. Software controls for 1 & 2. 4. Automatic (inter-burst) PLL lock control. 5. GTK-PC output optimization (L1 read-out *). 6. Investigation of hang-up after “SoB/EoB burst”. * see Giovanna's talk at GTK WG 09/02/2016 Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016

3 Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016
Road map (done so far) Situation report: Carrier reset via optical fiber from GTK-TTC. - hw, fw, sw OK & tested (Stefano). Individual GTK-RO reset. - implemented in fw and tested (Angelo). Software controls for 1 & complete RC server integration for GTK-RO reset. - carrier reset not integrated. Automatic (inter-burst) PLL lock control. - added automatic recovery procedure. GTK-PC output optimization (L1 read-out). - working and mostly debugged. Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016

4 GTK-RO (hardware & firmware)
30 boards installed + 3 spares for “triggerless” DAQ. 1 board broken (FPGA not initializing) on 25th of April. Swapped momentarily but will need repairs. “Loopback” mode implemented in fw. Allows to test the “downstream” DAQ chain triggering on fake (self- generated) hits. Useful for rate tests and L1 readout debugging. New readable registers to check data links lock. Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016

5 Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016
GTK-PC Extension to 6 PC completed: - installation and networking (Alberto) - sw - Run Control (Nicolas). Updated GTK-RO+TDCPix initialization procedures. - still some details to take care for TDCPix recovery... Solved the understood problems in input rate (the not understood one disappeared on its own...). Tested input and output with 2M L0 (200k L1) per burst. No problem detected. - will be tested with higher rates as soon as possible. (done this morning → spotted a GTK-RO fw issue) Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016

6 Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016
GTK-PC L1 readout can work in normal or “emulation” modes. L1 readout working reliably in stable conditions but still sensible to “exceptions” from GTK-RO and PC Farm. - need to be handled safely. Added logging to spot problems. Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016

7 Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016
Conclusions Lot of work done since February meeting. Still some details to take care during this week in order to be ready for the brand new GTK_5 (installed next week). DAQ is overall stable and the GTK should always be read out (also without beam) for noise monitoring. Enrico Gamberini, TDAQ WG meeting, 01/06/2016

8 Other infos (1): Set up hw and sw to acquire triggerless (TL) data along with normal trigger matched operation: - checked conditions to lock data links of slave board (Angelo) - updated sw used previous year for TL DAQ (Enrico & Alberto).

9 Other infos (2): Raspberry Pis for communication with Carrier:
- Installed 3 Raspberry Pis near the GTK’s power supply crates with the help of Michel. - Michel installed a carrier (without detector) in the cavern to allow us testing the i2c communication with the Pis. After some debugging (broken cable to position 3) we checked the 3 Pis were able to communicate with the carrier.
