Childhood part 1 Oscar Peterson was born in Montreal on August He grew up in a house on Montreal’s Deliste street .Oscar died on the 23 December 2007 in Mississauga Ontario.

Childhood part 2 Oscar learned about music from his sister , Daisy
He learned jazz music from his brother ,Fred Oscar started to play the trumpet at 5 years old He started to play the piano because he had tuberculosis He won a CBC national amateur contest when he was 14 He did weekly broadcast on a Montreal radio station ,called “fifteen minutes piano rambling” After he did a national CBC broadcast called “The Happy Gang”

Career Oscar Peterson was one of the greatest jazz pianist in Canada .Oscar has performed as a solo artist ,duo ,trio, quartet ,in small bands and in big bands.

Education In high school Oscar studied with an accomplished classical pianist ,hungarian Paul de Marky. Hungarian helped him to believe that he had something special to give to the music world.

Education In high school he played in a band called “The Montreal High Victory Serenuders” Oscar dropped out of high school to be a pianist His father said to him that he couldn’t “ let leave high school to be a jazz .you have to be the best, there is no second best”

Family Oscar had 7 children Oscar had 4 spouses
His parents names were Daniel and Kathleen Peterson .He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters ,Fred ,Charlie ,Daisy and May .

Awards Oscar won seven Grammy awards A Juno Hall of Fame award in 1982
A Glen Gould prize on 1993 A Genie award for best film in 1978
