(Include Shakespeare as well as other authors.) (Include at least one play by Shakespeare and one play by an American dramatist.) Gutenburg press created 1476 – Printing Press came to England Church Reformation 1530s England broke from Roman Catholic Church – development of Prostestantism Church of England established

5 Renaissance Poetry characteristics
Made new poems using themes & forms of old poems from the Classics – Carpe Diem, e.g. Aristocratic tone – unconcerned with the working people Wrote pastoral poems Drew on personal experiences, but relied on traditional poetic forms Poems full of puns and extended metaphors
