The Profile of an Online Learner
Who are they? How do they learn? Why do they choose online?
4
Who are they? These students are non-traditional students that are seeking the use of 21st century learning skills that will help them compete both educationally, as well as in the global workforce. They are both gifted and challenged students seeking a hands-on, digital, and flexible learning environment that keeps them engaged and learning at their pace.
5
How do they learn? Face to Face Driver (Web Facilitation) – 30%-79%-content facilitation delivered online. Online – Driver (Complete Virtual) – 80% of content delivered online. Blended/Hybrid (Flipped Classroom) – 1-79% of content delivered online. Traditional – Courses with no online technology content delivered in writing or orally.
6
Why they choose online? The student is in control of their own destiny. They can learn at their own rate, or be self paced A strong learning management system that is flexible, focused and individualized. Statistics show that students are more technology savvy then ever before, our students are no different. We establish a one-on-one relationship with every student. No one is allowed to fail. Many of our students have been ignored, bullied, and even shunned in the regular school environment. Once they realize they are in a non-threating environment, they gain confidence. As a result ,we see academic, emotional, and physical transformations. The “sit and get” method of teaching has contributed to an alarming 7, 000 dropouts per day in the United States.
