1 Homework: Part 2 Schedule: Frenzy Volume Notes
6.G.2 ~ Find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism. Apply the formulas V = l ∙ w ∙ h and V = b ∙ h to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

2 length height length width width
What is different about this 2-dimensional shape compared to this 3-dimensional shape? length height length width width

3 Volume!

4 20 cubes 40 cubes Now imagine having 2 stacks of 5x4,
how many cubes would you have? If each row has 5 cubes and I give you 4 rows, how many cubes would you have? 20 cubes 40 cubes ?

It was………………… 8 X 10 x 20 But since each block is worth 2 ft. We can now fit 4 x 5 x 10 So the answer is…. 20 x 10 200 How many blocks would it take to build/fill this government building? 2 ft 2 ft 2 ft 1600 blocks A 20 ft 800 blocks B 200 blocks C 8 ft 10 ft

It was………………… 10 X 30 x 100 But since each block is worth 5 ft. We can now fit 2 x 6 x 20 So the answer is…. 12 x 20 240 How many blocks would it take to build/fill this townhome complex? 5 ft 5 ft 5 ft 100 ft 240 cubes A 1500 cubes B 6000 cubes C 10 ft 30 ft

12 The volume of this building is 300 ft.3
If the length is 5 ft. and the width is 6 ft., how tall is the building? So if the total volume is 300, And we know the length is 5 And the width is 6 then…. 5 x 6 x ( height) = 300 30 x (height) = 300 So that means the height is 10 ft. 20 ft. A 100 ft. B 10 ft. C

13 The volume of this building is 720 ft.3
If the length is 10 ft. and the width is 6 ft., how tall is the building? So if the total volume is 720, And we know the length is 10 And the width is 6 then…. 10 x 6 x ( height) = 720 60 x (height) = 720 So that means the height is 12 ft. 9 ft. A 120 ft. B 12 ft. C
