What is a closed primary? How many states use this? What is an open primary? How many states use this?

What do the critics say? Those who support closed primaries give three major arguments about why closed primaries are the best – what are they? Those who support the open primary give two major criticisms of the closed primary – what are they?

Pros and Cons of Primaries?
List and explain at least two negatives of the primary process. Explain at least one positive of the primary process.

Your Take? Write a paragraph of at least 5 sentences explaining your opinion on the primary process. Do you think it is the best way for parties to nominate candidates for the general election? Do you think it causes too many problems? Explain your stance.
