World population: 7 billion Hungry: 925 million (13.1%) Largest group: Children 5 million children die from hunger each year. Does enough food exist? Yes World food production: 17% increase over 30 years This is in spite of a 70% population increase Problem: Insufficient land to produce food

5 Policy Alternatives Proposed Alternatives Recommendation
Limit government intervention. Increase foreign food aid and developmental assistance. Government intervention should ensure available resources. Recommendation Government intervention will stabilize agriculture production and limit price fluctuations.
