Exporting Alice Worlds
Congratulations! You have created a great Alice World (.a3p), and now you want to share it. Alice 3 provides you with tools to do that by exporting the world as a video and as code to print so others can view or recreate it. This tutorial will go through how to create these exports using a pre-made world called howTallAreYou.a3p. You can try this with any world! We recommend trying with interactive and non-interactive worlds.
3
Part 1: Exporting Video Select “File” and then “Upload to YouTube…”
A new window will appear where we can record our world.
4
Part 1: Exporting Video Press “Record,” and your world will start playing. Click “Stop” when the world is done.
5
Part 1: Exporting Video Click “Next,” and you will have 2 options.
Export the video to a file on your computer or login to YouTube and upload it directly (we were not able to get the YouTube functionality to work).
6
Part 1: Exporting Video If you are exporting the video to a file, remember to name it and to remember where it is being saved! The video will be saved as a .webm file, which can be converted to .mov or .mp4 using other programs if you wish. You will need to browse to find the file and play it.
7
Part 2: Exporting Code Alice 2 allowed us to export code as a .html file, but Alice 3 only allows us to print code. Select “File” and then “Print” and there will be 3 options.
8
Print All… This option lets you print the entire Alice window, like this:
9
Print Current Code… This option lets you print just the code from the tab you have selected, like this:
10
Print Scene Editor… This option lets you print just the scene setup image, like this:

One Last Thing Alice 3 allows us to view the underlying java code
Select “Window,” “Preferences,” and “Java Code On The Side” Java code will appear that you can screenshot to share
