Both girls have type 1 diabetes
This means their bodies do not produce a special hormone called insulin
that turns food into the energy their bodies need

Different on the inside:
When a body does not make enough insulin, the sugar from food stays in the blood and does not go to the cells that need it to make energy
Insulin can be given by a small injection
To check to see if a body needs insulin or sugar, a small amount of blood is dropped onto a blood glucose meter

Chloe and Ria have to test their blood and need special injections
everyday just to stop them getting sick.
