Queen Victoria in 1897 is the only other monarch in the history of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and a few other Commonwealth realms to have celebrated a Diamond Jubilee. She was the monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death.

Elizabeth II was born in London on 21 April, 1926.
Name at birth: Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. She was educated at home with Princess Margaret, her younger sister. She studied constitutional history, law, art, music, learned to ride. When she was 25 her father George VI died of cancer. The coronation of the Queen took place in June 2, 1953 in Westminster Abbey.

This is where Queen Elizabeth II lives much of her time. When the Queen is in London, you can see the Union Jack above the palace. The palace was built in 1702 by the first Duke of Buckingham. Buckingham Palace is enormous. There are 600 rooms, 78 bathrooms, a cinema, a swimming pool and even a post office. There is also a beautiful park with a lake around the palace. About 450 people work at the palace. Two people look after the 300 clocks.
