2 trigger warning! the following slides contain images of dismantled and repurposed books which may disturb some viewers… take a moment to breathe deeply and remember the great book cycle of life… a new book is bought and then is read/loved to death the book gets recycled to become other new books… rinse and repeat forever… occasionally though, the book becomes book art in a library (or in a librarian’s CLA presentation)… November 3, 2016

i cut pages out of a dictionary that was donated (you could use one that you’re discarding or any large text heavy book) i trimmed the paper down (in this case it was about 8 ¼ x 11 inches and then i ran it through the printer to print the letters...very simple and looks great! 8 large cardboard letters
keep some cardboard boxes aside and use a boxcutter or other blade to cut out letters. i just drew some vague guidelines with pencil to follow. then you can use newsprint, old book pages, old graphic novel or manga pages or just paint the letters...then attach to the wall, a bulletin board or lean them somewhere for a nice display! use artwork to make ribbon style bunting...you can use images from the same artist and have a contest to see who can guess the artist or make it really difficult and use bits of a particular painting and see if people can identify the painting... 3 November 2016

origami flower balls make origami petals (so many petals!) and then glue them together to make a flower (so many flowers!) but actually, each flower has 5 petals and you need 12 flowers…so… Reading By Design | Summer 2017 3 November 2016

17 origami flower balls attach them together to make 2 halves and put the string in one of them. I used glue on the small ones and staples on the large one. the large one was actually easier to work with… 3 November 2016

word swag word swag has free images that come with the program...you can enter the text you want and choose a style that is mostly preset but you can change the size and some spacing.... word swag costs $5 but if you think you’ll use it for things it might be worth it...
