Introduction to OrgUnits (Organisation Units) This video should be the first video in “Building your instance” (volume 1) – introduction to volume 1 Could be called>> Volume 1; The Three Pillars Contact: Nicholas Santillo Chantria Tram

2 required to create a report
The 3 core dimensions required to create a report “Number of students regularly (80%+) attending schools in Ontario native reserves in September 2016” What Where When Reuse this for each pillar when introducing when, where, what Report

3 The design of the hierarchy is all about the end, the to Reporting.
We are aggregating data up. THE SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY DOES THIS FOR YOU. However, you do have to create the structure to communicate that to the system Big use – mapping and data aggregation. The Orgunits relate to coordinates The design of the hierarchy is all about the end, the to Reporting. We start with the lowest level and work our way up to the purpose, the Reports IMPORTANT - where are you collecting the data? And how do you aggregate data or disaggregate data geographically? Based on your answers, you would create structure. Most of the time, the first couple of layers predefined either by government or otherwise Because all that data will eventually be aggregated to create reports, maps, be evaluated, sent off to funders, partners and so on Based on geography and used for data entry Organisation units, Groups and Group Sets, DHIS2 Academy, Lagos 2015

4 The Organisational Hierarchy – The ‘WHERE’ dimension of DHIS2
Level 6 Level 5 Level 4 Town School District Level 3 City Level 2 Province Level 1 (Root) School The design of the hierarchy is all about the end, the to Reporting. (public and private schools, funders). You group them. Town District Logical Outcomes Canada City Province

Group Set Example Group Set Type of School Group Public Private Alternative Bayview Glen School Blyth Academy OrgUnit/Facility Segway – how do you group similar orgunits in a non-geographical relationship? (public and private schools, funders). You group them. Parkview Alternative School School of Life Experience Downsview S.S Sunnybrooke School

6 New shot of Ontario. Regions that make up the disctrict of central Ontario. Group northern region and show on map. This is a group we decided to create. They are at similar levels in terms of the hierarchy of orgunits. But now we can pull them up to see them in a report all at once Orgunits need to be grouped in order to be shown in a GIS. In any other form of reports such as pivot tables or a line graph, you can select the group rather than selecting orgunits separately. More efficient. QUIZ!
