2. Overview Numeracy – new curriculum. Science - Materials.
Topic (Art, DT, Drama, Music) = Florence Nightingale and ‘A Polar Adventure’. A visit to the Nightingale museum is highly recommended.
Literacy - Traditional Tales and Instructions.

3. Reading books Reading books = sent home every evening.
Will not get changed EVERY day like in year one.
Please return bookbag with the reading book each day.
Children are expected to read every night. At least 10 minutes would be great!
Reading for comprehension. Ask your child LOTS of questions.
Encourage them to use their phonic knowledge to decode unfamiliar words.

4. homework
Please check the homework page on the Warren Road Website every week for spellings and year two specific news.
Homework passport.
Spellings and times tables.
Alternating spelling and times table tests,
Friday am 2E, 2S, 2H. Thursday pm 2A.
Encourage neat, well presented work using cursive writing.

5. ICT
Headphones need to be provided.

6. PE All parts of PE kits are named, including each shoe.
Shorts, white t-shirt, plimsolls.
Tracksuit bottoms and trainers additional extras.
Earrings removed or taped up.
Please provide Micropore tape.
Long hair must be tied back.

7. Rainy days and MORNINGS
First thing in the morning is not the best time to speak to us.
Teaching assistant on the door – or note/letter.
Your child needs a waterproof in school every day.
Wellies when asked – or keep on pegs at all times.

8. 3:30pm. If you’re late – to the office at 3:40pm.

9. HELPERS
Teachers will be asking for support in class activities so please write a note to your class teacher if and when you are available to help.
