Deforestation Presented by: Salah Musleh 9th Boys

2 What is Deforestation? -Deforestation is the destruction of forests or the removal of a forest. This can really effect our lives by: changing the climate cause animals to be endangered increase the co2 in the air

3 Why is Deforestation a problem?
-Deforestation is a cause to global warming so in tropical deforestation it is responsible for approximately 20% of world carbon dioxide. - It could be for about up to one-third of total carbon dioxide. -But recent calculations suggest that about 29% of total carbon dioxide in the world will be taken in from trees.

4 Why are trees so important?
Trees and other plants remove carbon from the atmosphere during the process of photosynthesis and release oxygen back into the atmosphere during normal respiration.

5 Amazon Forest

6 Amazon Forest As you can see some of the amazon forest has been destroyed. That will mean more carbon dioxide will be in the air and that will effect us.

7 What are the trees used for?
The wood will be used: - To build houses - make paper - fire wood - Make tables, chairs, and many more

8 What is the carbon cycle?
Carbon is need in earth, and without it we could not survive. When we change how it is on the planet, it can cause serious problems because we are using fossil fuels, farming methods, and development of cities. By this we are disturbing the carbon cycle and the amount of gases in the atmosphere.

9 What is the carbon cycle?
The carbon cycle - Carbon in one form gases in the atmosphere. The blue arrows above show how the element has always cycled naturally from one carbon to another. The red arrows represent carbon emissions due to human activities. For thousands of years, atmosphere has had a stable amount of carbon dioxide. Since the 18th century, the burning of fossil fuels, as well as deforestation started. The resulting build-up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the major cause of global climate change.

10 So now you know deforestation is a problem.
-You can see how this is a big problem -For every tree they cut down they should just plant another one.
