3 What lives in the New Forest?
All the organisms listed below could/can be found the New Forest. Wild Boar were reintroduced in 2014, nearly 300 years after they were hunted to extinction. They are being kept in an enclosed natural environment. Grey wolves were included on this slide as a good discussion point. The European Grey wolf was once found all over Britain, and was hunted to extinction. There have been many discussions between conservationists as to whether we should reintroduce wolves in a controlled way, to ensure that this beautiful predator is not lost from our heritage.
