1. MnDOT PROJECT UPDATE Trunk Highway 169 Improvements Fall 2016 – Fall 2017
Mayor & Council Members - Thank you for giving us this opportunity to give an overview of the upcoming Highway 169 improvements.

2. PROPOSED TH-169 IMPROVEMENTS
W 16th St Access closure in St. Louis Park, Construct Visual Screen.
Extend/Lengthen Acceleration & Deceleration Lanes at Cedar Lake Road in Minnetonka and St. Louis Park.
Bridge Repair work on Cedar Lake Road over 169 – pier struts are in the project, and concrete surface repair.
Bridge repair work on Mainline 169 NB bridge over the BNSF RR. Needs M&O, strip seal joint R&R, bearing & abutment repairs.
Pavement Preservation from MN62 to MN55. CPR (concrete repair), Bit M&O, Drainage, Concrete Barrier, Plate Beam Barrier, Noisewall Replacement, Signals, TMS, & ADA Improvement,
Nine Mile Creek Bridge Replacement – With that, we shall also replace the Approaches, Noise wall, Sign bridges, Lighting, Storm sewer & the Box culvert. Need to purchase property for a Water quality treatment pond & Flood plain mitigation
Our Plan is to Have construction to be completed in 1 year.
Requires to close TH 169 between Bren Road and 7th St. From November 2016 to November 2017.
The Bridge Replacement is a Design Build. All projects will be let as one contract. With proposed letting date in July 2016.

AVE BRIDGE-MAJOR REHABILITATION, RETAINING WALLS, RAILINGS, LIGHTING S. 1st St SE 2nd St $40,000,000 (Does not include north approach work … not fully funded) NEEDED 7/27/2018 Spring 2019 thru Fall Central Ave river crossing will be closed, project duration/staging to be further analyzed
Hwy 55 REDECK HWY 55 RAMP 7TH ST & 8TH ST, & SB HWY 55 OVER FRANKLIN AVE 13th St Franklin Ave $4,500,000 NEEDED 7/21/2018 April 2019 thru Sept Anticipate ramp closures for approx 2 months. SB Hwy 55 to remain open, but lane restriction (1/2 deck at a time)
B. CONSTRUCT KNOX AVE TRANSIT STATION (PART OF METRO TRANSIT - ORANGE LINE PROJECT) Hwy 13 - Burnsville Minneapolis $150,000,000 NEEDED 2017…not fully funded Approx 2 year construction, impacts on I-35W ramps
. RECONSTRUCT I-35W & I-494 INTERCHANGE Richfield Bloomington phase1 - $50,000,000 NEEDED 2017 Phase-1 to be constructed simultaneously as the Met Council Orange Line BRT-Knox Avenue Station phase (planned underpass bridge).

Primarily the traffic will shift to the west ,
Shady Oak Road (CR 61, Excelsior Boulevard, State Highway 7 for non-freeway routes.
11th street is NS but Hopkins staff has recommended not advertising it as a detour route
Work with each of the cities and counties and develop traffic management plan,
this process will involve identifying need for signal timing optimization trail blazing signage ect. 
Temporary traffic signals may be an option too.

12. OUTREACH PLAN & SCHEDULE
The first open house is scheduled for August 19 at the Hopkins Arts Center (what time?)
Mailings will go out early August for this event.

Formal and informal meetings, as early as this week, will take place with small businesses, residents, office parks, and the larger corporations.  (names of the business or associations identified in Hopkins)
Next summer, as we get closer to construction, the outreach will involve attending multiple local festivals and other popular events.
Outreach to date has involved MnDOT’s communication to the cities and regulatory agencies.

13. POSSIBLE OPEN HOUSE CONCEPTS
Lunch time open house – host for 1-2 hours close to any of the business parks during the weekday lunch time for either a brown bag session or partner with food trucks to have them locate near the meeting
Evening open house – partner with a local business to provide refreshments and seating or host the open house at a local community center for a more formal meeting presentation

16. PROJECTS IN HENNEPIN COUNTY
Current 494 third lane project – from I-394 to I-94. Substantial completion in Minor work (potential off-road work in spring 2017)
HWY 610 connection to I-94 in Maple Grove. From County Road 81 to I year project expected to be completed in Fall of 2016.
I-394 Road Resurfacing. From Hwy 100 in Golden Valley to I-94 in Minneapolis. Expected to run from this month (June 2015 ) to October 2015.
I-35W Reconstruction, Lake Street-Transit Station, Bridge Repairs, reconstruct interchange ramps. Project is from 42nd St to I-94 major construction spring 2018, potential work in 2017
I-94 Pavement Preservation including Bituminous Overlay, some CPR – concrete work in some segments, & Bridge repair work. from south of the tunnel to I-694 – 2017.
HWY 62 Road Resurfacing. From Tracy Avenue to HWY 212. Scheduled for 2018.
South West - LRT through the cities of Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Minnetonka & Eden Prairie (passing in close proximity to Edina)– Major construction in Planned to be in service by 2020.
Bottineau – LRT project – through the cities of Minneapolis, Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal and Brooklyn Park, Major construction in Passenger operations in 2021.
