Product Life Cycle task
Skoot is a manufacturer of kick scooters Skoot was well-positioned to cash in on the craze that swept the UK in the early 2000s However the size of the market has slowly fallen as fashion has moved on Questions Where on the product life cycle would you place the scooter? How might Skoot change its marketing mix to maximise sales in the short term How might Skoot try to survive in the longer term? Image by George Speake. Used with permission At the time of writing the scooter appeared to be in the saturation phase of the product life cycle – many competitors and manufacturers are forced to be very competitive Short term: Reduce price, change packaging, bring out new versions of the scooters Longer term: Find new markets – for airport/hospital staff? Find new products – a commuter scooter??? Are there other markets or products that they could look into? * © easilyinteractive.com 2007
