1. Intro to the World of IT Chapter 1
Optional in Class Activity: The Fish Bowl
Give the students index cards (at the beginning or end of class).
Ask each student to write down one question concerning the course material.
At the beginning of class – these questions could be related to the textbook material or homework.
At the end of class – these questions could be related to that day’s lecture.
They should be directed to ask a question of clarification regarding some aspect of the material which they do not fully understand
Students deposit their questions in a fish bowl.
The instructor then draws several questions out of the bowl and answers them for the class or asks the class to answer them.

Divide the class into groups of 2 or 3
Have each group search the internet for IT roles and/or jobs or they can describe one of the eight roles mentioned earlier in the presentation
Each group will then devise specific skills that role or job should have
Each group will either choose one person to represent the group or they can perform the together – they will present only the skills and possible environments in which this role would be
The class then must guess what IT role they are describing
