Write your name and period # on the side with the lines. Do this on each card.
On the side without lines, put one of the following words in the upper left hand corner. You can draw your boxes later. Put them in your home/school folder once they are labeled.

2. Seasons Investigation
You will be working with your hip partner for this investigation.
1. Go to Mrs. Burke’s webpage and click on Unit 7: Earth, Moon, Sun. Find today’s date and click on the link for the Season Simulator.
2. Take about 10 minutes to familiarize yourself with the simulation by exploring what each box shows, the different ways you can manipulate the simulation, and the different labels you can add/remove.

3. Data Collection
Goal: Investigate the cause of seasons by observing the sun’s light direction on the Earth from different latitudes
Follow the directions for #3 to collect data about sunlight at 3 different latitudes (70oN, 43.5oN, and 9oN)
You will collect data at the 4 key days of each season (December 21, March 20, June 20, and September 22)
Make the following observations for each latitude and date. Record them on the attached sheet.
Direction of the incoming solar radiation
Location of most intense, direct sunlight
Day/Night line
Angle of the Sun
When you finish collecting your observations put this page in a safe place for tomorrow’s work. Then use any remaining time to work on your vocabulary cards.
